' Many spectators at Wingatui on Saturday wondered why the field for the Hopeful Handicap was dispatched while the ruler of "Guillotine, H. N. Wiggins, was still on the ground. Guillotine unseated Wiggins three times prior- to the start, then Wiggins declined to be put up again, aud with tho permission of the stewards in attendance at the start the filly was withdrawn from the field. A. I_. Ellis intends appealing against the month's suspension imposed, on him by the judicial committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club.
