Cases at the Magistrate's Court were dealt with today by Mr. E. Page, S.M. A further remand until Wednesday was granted in the case of John Cusack Wagg, a clerk, aged 31, who was charged with fraudulently obtaining £2 from Miles Joseph Cassidy at Tariki (Inglewood) by means of a valueless "cheque. Although he said he remembered nothing about the alleged offences, William Buchanan pleaded guilty to charges" of using obscene language in a public place, behaving in a disorderly manner while drunk, resisting a constable while in the lawful execution of his duty, and wilfully damaging a police tunic and helmet to the extent of ss. Sub-Inspector Martin said that the offences took place at 4.40 p.m. yesterday. Constable Ankins had occasion to speak to two women in Cambridge Terrace. The accused went up'-to him and used the language complained of in the presence of the women. When the con- - stable went to arrest the accused he resisted violently, and as a result the constable's uniform was damaged. The Magistrate fined'the accused £3 on the charge of using obscene language and ordered him to make good the damage done to the constable's uniform. On each of the other charges the accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within six months if- called upon. Default of payment of the fine was fixed at 14 days' imprisonment.
