NELSON NEWS

(From Our own Correspondent.) NELSON, February 14. Mr. W. J. Moffatt has been re-elected chairman of the Cawtbron Institute Trust Board. Mr. J. H. Thornton, secretary of the Nelson Education Board, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries. At yesterday's meeting of the Nelson Education Board the chairman, the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, congratulated the secretary, stating it was the highest distinction of its kind that could be obtained in the Southern Hemisphere. It showed that others besides the members of the board recognise the qualities and efficiency of the secretary, he said. The chairman's remarks were endorsed by the applause of members. Mr. Thornton briefly returned thanks. Mr. B. E. Parham, who until recently was engaged as assistant mycologist at the Cawthron Institute, has been appointed assistant agricultural officer iv Fiji. Mr. Parham expects to leave Auckland on March 7 to tako up his now duties.
