Hamilton Borough Council has protested against certain local firms who raised prices' immediately the increased rate of exchange came into operati n. The proft test arose" through a communication from • the Auckland Electrical Trades Association advising that the surcharge on electrical goods was to be increased by 15 per cent. Councillors protested against a 15 per cent, increase on goods already in stock, as the' increase should not operate for three or: four weeks. Protests were also made at the immediate advance made in the local price of butter.
