DELHI, 16th December.
With the Legislative Assembly's approval of legislation to cope with civil disobedience, the Government is now fully armed with powers sufficient to prevent the country from being thrown again into turmoil while the new Constitution is being made.
The Government's firm policy has put new heart into the moderates, who are likely to give a good account of themselves in the elections undor the new Constitution. Few Indian politicians believe that the Congress Party will repeat the mistake of 1921 and boycott the first elections.
There is no truth in rumours that the Government of India has been making peace overtures to Mr. Gandhi.
