THE GRAF ZEPPELIN

The German, airship Graf Zeppelin, after its successful completion of nine round trips to South America this year, will be experimentally equipped with a 1000-horse power crude oil Diesel .en- J gine. If the engine proves satisfactory all five motors of tho Graf will be replaced by the crude oil type. The new motor is the result of years of laboratory experiments and factory tests conducted by tho machine factory of Augsburg Nuernburg. Tho main problem that has now been solved by the German engineers was to reduce the weight of the crude oil motor to that of an ordinary combustion engine. The Germans say that tho new crude oil engine eliminates all firo hazard, and that its fuel consumption is one-third of tho ordinary motor.
