The "Sydney Morning Herald's" Mcl- j bourne correspondent says that the Pro- j iers' Conference declared itself in favour of an immediate internal loan of ■_£ 8,000,000, the issue to be at par bear-1 ing a rate of interest of £3 15s per cent; and a currency of ten years. Dead* j lock was reached when the Commonwealth Bank intimated that it could not underwrite the loan at less than 4 per cent. Ultimately the Conference suggested that Sir Robert Gibson convene a conference of the trading banks in "Victoria and New South Wales to review the whole problem. Sir Robert informed the- Conference that lie was prepared to do that.
