MAN FATALLY HURT
TAXI-DRIVER ARRESTED
Fatal injuries were received by Mr. William Edwards, who lived at Main road, Eastbourne, when he was knocked down by a motor-car driven by Paul Olsen Sabo in Whitmore street early on Saturday evening. Sabo was later arrested and charged with being intoxicated whilo in charge of a car.
Mr. Edwards was crossing the street, apparently intending to catch a bus to go home, when, ho was struck by the car. He received a compound fracture of the right leg, head injuries, and severo concussion. The City Ambulance took him to tho Hospital, where- ho died later. Tho late Mr. Edwards was a married man with no children.
When Sabo, a taxi-driver, aged 41, appeared before Mri W. H. Woodward, S.M., to-day, Senior-Sergeant Scott applied for a remand until 9th August, saying that there- was a possibility of a more serious charge than that of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car being mado against the accused.
The remand was not opposed and bail was granted in the accused's own bond of £100' aiidi one surety of £100. or two of £50.
