COAL SHORTAGE
ACUTE IN TARANAKI
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
NEW PLYMOUTH, Ist July. The shortage of coal in .Taranald as a result of the strike has become acute, and merchants' bunkers were practically exhausted to-day. Taranald mines are unable to supply sufficient coal even if the northern mines resume on Monday, and it will be at least a week before relief comes.
The prospect of immediate shipments from the West Coast are remote.
