SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Principals and assistants of secondary schools met in conference yesterday, separately in the morning and jointly in the afternoon. This morning a federation meeting took place, and this afternoon a conference with the Technical College Association was arranged. At the outset of yesterday's meeting of the Secondary Schools', Association eulogistic references were made to the services of Mr. F. Martyn Kenner, who announced, his retirement, after twenty years' service, from the post of honorary secretary. He remarked that thief retirement was hot due to any disagreements during the past year, but was solely due to the fact that the work . was gettinß beyond him. A younger man for the work was needed in these times of stress. Mr. R. Martin Smith was elected to the vacant post. Mr. F. Milner (Waitaki) ■ wast' re-elected president of the association for the ensuing year.
