OLYMPIC GAMES
ATHLETIC REPRESENTA-
TION
The'position in regard to New Zealand representation at the .Olympic Games at Los Angeles was again under the notice of the New Zealand Olympic Council last night, when.it was pointed out that the funds for representation had been allocated to the sending of a rowing crew, three boxers, and three athletes to the Games. The Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, however, had nominated. seven representatives from its branch of sport, and, in view of the fact that no further funds were available, the Olympic Council decided to request the athletic authorities to state definitely who their three representatives -would be.' Jt was also -decided to point out that the other athletic nominees could, of course, be sent 'to the Games, provided that the expense of' sending them was not to be borne by the Olympic Council, and also provided that an assurance was given that the nominees were up to the standard set by the Olympic body, i, c .,. that th« nominees had a reasonable chance of success at the Games.
