SYDNEY, This Day. "Wages should be the last thing cut in industry," declared Mr. Sydney Pascall, President of the Rotary (nternational, addressing the Newcastle Rotary Conference. He added: "If wages are first attacked, how can you expect the confidence of your workmen? An employer should be a leader without being an autocrat." He contended that profits were morally and ethically wrong if obtained at the expense of the worker. In times of depression the burden not be placed on the shoulders of those feast able to bear tit —the employees. '
