Saturday credits the Government with having decided, in its effort to assist the Matakaoa County Council, which is in . serious financial difficulties, that it will finance the overseas interest of the county. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the ~..H0n. Adam Hamilton) stated to-day ■'that no such, derision had been reached by the Government. "Bepresentatives of the Mata"kaoa County Council," said Mi. Hamilton. "were in; Wellington recently to dis"•:cuss the council's unfortunate" position, ■'-arid, they" were in close consultation •.: with myself and departmental officers.
