GERMAN PRISONER OF WAR
DETENTION IN FRENCH GUIANA

BERLIN, 26th April. The last German war. prisoner hat only just been liberated and repatriated. When he was captured the French courtmartialled hinl on tha ground, that as an Alsatian by birth he ought not to have joined the German Army. He was sentenced to lif« detention in the penal colony of French Guiana. In response to the Germaa Government's representations President Doumer granted a pardon.
