SYDNEY SOLICITOR
VICTIM OF MURDEROUS ATTACK ' ••■■■.. SYDNEY, 2oth April. ■Mr. Victor Claude Saywell, who was found in bed on Friday with his. head horribly battered, died at midnight on Saturday. His wife, who was similarly injured is still unconscious, and there is little hope of her recovery. Police are guarding their residence at Bellevue Hill.
Apparently MrJ and Mrs. Saywell were attacked while they were asleep. No reason for the murderous attack has yet been ascertained. A bloodstained hammer was discovered in an adioining paddock. '
The late Mr. Saywell was a regular visitor to Wellington, for many years. He was the son of Mr. Thomas Saywell, who owned a great part of Brigh-ton-le-Sands, one of Sydney's most popular seaside resorts, and was the brother of Mrs. W. Crawford Burt, Khandallah, and the uncle of Mrs. John Plimmer, Willis street. The late Mr. Saywell had substantial property interests in Wellington, and had many business and personal friends in the city, all of whom mourn his tragic death.
