ORAPAI JUST WINS.D
The Macara Handicap, though contested by only four horses, provided the finishing gem of the meeting. Orapai, Moa Bird, and Imperial Fame went across the line together, Orapai holding the verdict by half a head from Moa Bird, with Ira-
perial Fame only r.iioi-aor head further away. Historic, alwayj last, u-as several lengths back being eased up. Orapai led from end to end, but undoubtedly he was lucky to win. Had Moa Bird not been disappointed when attempting to go through between Orapai and Imperial Fame in the straight she would have scored easily. When she was checked .Voitre had to bring her outside ■Imperial Fame, then she. finished like a .■? an >.ana-wasin-front-a-stride the wrong side of the post.: .Imperial.Fame spoilt his chance by .tunning, oa the outside of Orapa: ,roun_d .the turn. : ■ 'i^ REVERSE.ORDER. ;.■ Alpinist .and .Lady .Ronald,, the-dividend horses 0.11 .the. first .day, again filled these places in .the Fareu-eli Jlai.ujicap, but they did so in reverse order, Lady Honald scoring ; very deeisivery by "a couple o£ lengths irom' Alpinist; 'ivhw 'was somewhat lucky to hold-off-the fast-finishing Sailing by a short haie-a-hcad-for.;second'money. . -Uady -Ronald- fey-fourth or fifth to the straight.eutiiance, .where Alpinist, Araios, and Gold.
