SOME WELCOME RAIN, The depression responsible for the break.in the weather has passed rapidly away eastward, and since last night the anti-cyclone, which yesterday was over the south of the Tasman Sea, has extended northward, and now envelops the whole Dominion. The marked increase in pressure last night has brought about a general, change to southerly winds, togother with rain, in nearly all districts. There have been many heavy falls. By this morning, however, an improvement had set in, and at 9 a.m. to-day parts of the-East Coast and the central provinces of-the North Island., were the only, -places to report rain as falling. The fresh southerly^ winds have been-accompanied by the" usual drop in temperature. ■" Auckland had fair, warm/and hazy weather yesterday, with a north-wester-ly bre.eze. There was a change' to a south-westerly last night. In "Wellington tho weather was dull and misty, with -a strong north-west wind. Some rain fell in 'the morning, and between 7 and 11 p.m. the rain was heavy.'- -At Kelburn 62 points wero recorded, 56 falling at.Lower Hutt: This is nearly twice as much lain as Jfell during 'the whole of March. Christchurch had dull weather yesterday. In tho afternoon a strong south-westerly sprang "up, and light rain, amounting to 11 points, fell. Dunodin had overcast weather yesterday, intermittent rain falling with a southerly wind. Winds are forecasted to be moderate tostrong from, some southerly or southeasterly quarter. Further showers may be expected north of Kawhia and Castleppint.-ybut otherwise fine weather may be expected. Temperatures will be cool, and some inland frosts in the South Island may be expected to-night.
