TALLOW AND HEMP.

The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated 24th March, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—

Tallow.—Nd auction this week. Market continues quiet, with spot quotations nominally unchanged. Hemp.—Manila: Market quiet;* "X" grade March-May shipment value £18. Sisal: Market firmer with better demand. March-May and April-June shipments No. 1, fair, average quality, value £15. New Zealand: Market still neglected. Nominal value March-April shipment, Highfair £16 10s, Common £14 103. It is reported that 300 tons of fair grade gold at £14. This helped to depress the market.
