BRITISH STORE RESULTS
Latest English financial journals ree.eived review operations of many British companies for the year w,hich. ended 31st January last or thereabouts. Eesults of the activities of several departmental stores are amongst • those dealt with, fjarrods, the well-known London retail distributors, showed a net profit of £697,069 for the year ended 31st January, as against £752,482 for the preceding year. The total distribution for the year on ordinary shares was 17% per cent., less tax, 2*A per cent, less than for the preceding twelve months. Selfridge's (Oxford street stores, London) earned a profit of £400,269, as against £431,097 for the previous year, ordinary dividend being 10 per cent., and the Lewis Co. (with departmental stores in Liverpool, Manchester, and Birmingham) showed a profit- of £890,899, as compared with £866,165 for the preceding twelve months. Dividend was at the same rate as for the previous year, viz., 15 per cent.
