■ . WANGANUI, 26th March. . Taking the first strike against a Wanganui representative cricket team on Cook's Gardens this morning, Wellington Mercantile League made 176 in the first innings. At the call of time Wanganui had made. 114 for. the loss of four wickets. lor Wellington W. P. McKenzie topped the-score with 32, followed by T. Murphy 29, J Brough 28, and A. Martin 27. Bowling for Wanganui, C. Smith took four wickets for 26 runs; E.sGee, one for none: and Wood, three for 31. Gee was top scorer for Wanganui with an uncompleted total of 61 not out Wild made 26 not out. ■ Hassell took one wicket for 6 runs; Pickering, two. for 19; and Roberts, one for 25. The. match will be continued on Monday.
