BOMBARDED WITH EGGS

A CLAIM FOR DAMAGES (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND,, 17th March. A complaint that as he was walking with a lady companion through the grounds of the Auckland Hospital they had been struck by egga thrown from the\balcony of the children's- ward was made by a man who sought compensation from the Hospital Board. In a letter he stated that as he was walking past the ward at 12.30 p.m. on 6th March he and his companion were struck by eggs thrown by children who, when remonstrated with, used insulting names. Compensation for damage to clothes was estimated at £16, as it was considered the garments would have to be replaced. After it had been reported that the surgical registrar, to, whom a complaint was made at the time, considered that the clothing could be dry-cleaned, the chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, moved that- the board should not admit liability. This course was followed.
