FEAST
"Variable weather obtained for the second day of the meeting of the Hutt Valley Eifle Association at Trentham, sunshine and cloud alternating. There was a changeable wind, which, though not very strong, was troublesome. At times sighting was difficult,, and some riflemen were unfortunate enough to strike bad patches. Nevertheless^ scoring was well up to standard, and in the Simmonds match, 900 yds, D. Keir, and J. Yeandle, both of Ashburton, each scored a possible.
The Hutt Valley championship : was won by H. W. Feast (Greytown), with a score of 234, D. Keir (Ashburton) coming second with 233. Feast shot consistently at .this meeting, and also averaged good scoring at the N.E.A. meeting last week. At this meeting he put on top score at 500 yds, 49; was seventh at GOOyds with 45; was second in the Masefleld aggregate, one shot behind the winner; shot 46 at 800 yds, occupying tenth place, 3 points behind the winner, and at 900 yds scored 48. TEAMS' MATCH.
The teams' match", in which four men each fired seven rounds at 300, 500, and 600 yds, was won by the Petone team, who also took £20. The members of the team were: W. J. Mclver, E. H. Nicholl, W. H. Ballinger, 'and .A. H. O'Donuell. Their total score was 390. Feathcrston were second with 381, and took £15, and Greytown -were third also with 381, taking £8. The meeting was most successful in every way, and proved very popular with riflemen. Sergt.-Major J. W. McMurray was chief range officer-Sergt.-Major W.
