MURITAI CHAMPIONSHIPS
The semi-finals and finals of the Muritai Tennis Club championships were played during the week-end and resulted as follows:— •
Men's Singles.—Semi-finals: W. P. Hollings beat E. H. Carstens, 6-1, 6-0; J. B. Black beat Reeves, 6-1, 6-4. Final: W. P. Hollings beat J. B. Black, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. This proved a fast game, Hollings driving accurately, while Black made many fine recoveries. Women's Singles.—Semifinals: Mrs. J. Robinson beat Miss N. Bayfield, 6-1, 6-2; Miss M. Macassey beat Miss I. Bayfield, 6-3, 64. Final: Miss M. Macassey beat Mrs. Robinson, 6-1, 6-4. The final resolved itself into a game mainly from the base line. Men's Doubles.—Semi-finals: Hollings and Collins beat Catley and Kitehing, 6-2, 6-5; Reeves and Reeves beat Wilson and Smith, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4. Final: Hollings and Collins beat Reeves and Beeves, 6-4, 7-5. The final was disappointing.
