MONSTER PETITION

RUGBY, 6th February. A disarmament petition of hundreds of thousands of women, belonging to social, political, and economic organisations throughout the world, was presented to this morning's session of the Disarmament Conference. Lord Cecil addrossing the Conference on behalf of the International Federation of League of Nations Societies, said that the federation represented thirty-six countries and had a total membership of one and a half million. He wished to introduce- a resolution demanding a substantial reduction of armaments, including the abolition of-warships over 10,000 tons, submarines, tanks, and bombing aircraft. He also urged the international organisation of aviation under the Leaguo of Nations and the complete prohibition of chemical and bacteriological warfare.
