KASHMIR REBELLION

CALCUTTA, Ist February. The disturbance in the native State of Kashmir is assuming grave proportions. British troops have been sent to Mirpur, the centre of the trouble. Tho trouble is communal, between Hindus and Moslems. Many have been killed and wounded, and the whole area is seething with discontent, villages inarching on one another.

Disaffection in the Jammu district of the Kashmir State has spread, the area including the upper Jhelum canal, which is an important link in the Punjab canal system, and there is constant danger to British-Indian administrative officials.
