RACE AGAINST TIME

AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON CUP

LOCAL TEAM WINS

After providing bright cricket all the way, the junior representative cricket match for : the Auckland-Wellington Cup resulted in an exciting finish when it was concluded at the Baain Reserve yesterday. Auckland's showing yesterday was much more impressive than on the., first day, and it was only after a race against time that the local boys .were. able .to obtain'a win by four wickets.

Iv their second .innings, the visitors batted solidly, three batsmen reaching the fifties and another passing 40. In view of the good stroke play of the Auckland boys in their second innings, it was all the more diilicnlt to understand the poor showing made by most of them on Thursday.

When the innings closed lor 312, Wei-1 lington were,left-with 163 to get in, an hour and a half, and it was evident that only forcing tactics could hope to succeed. McNab, however, was bowling much more steadily than in the first innings; and.it was not easy to score quickly off his bowling, the result being tbat six wickets were down before the century was reached. Dully and O'Loughlin then became associated, however, and,' in a vigorous partnership, secured the necessary runs just before time. Details:— WELLIXGTOX. V'lrst Innings 413 Second Innings.
