The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club fired its first match in the third. series at Ticntham on Saturday over ranges of 300 and 600 yards. The,weather was dull, and ■a deceptive light, aided I>y a Uicky wind, made shooting difficult. At 300 yatds President S. X F. McLean outstripped the test of the field with a brilliant 49. His" sixth counter was a veiy unlucky inner. Dcputy-Piesident t. Ooodall took second place with 43, while Deputy-President W. G. Fcllingham and H. R- Hunt each scored 42. At 600 yards H. T. Peat took fiist place ■nith 43, second place going to Deputy-President Felhngham with 42. Piesident McLean and Deputjr-Picsiden.l Goodall each scored 41. > The top scoier tor tire day 4 both off the gun and Handicap, Was President McL*an. His gun total of 90 wad, under the conditions which prevailed, a remarkable shoot, and ttte other xifletnen will need to watch their laurels. , A piospdctive member, Mr. Desland^s, .ilso put up a good performance, scoring 40 at 300 yards and 30 at 600 yards.
