ON RICCARTON TRACK

SOME USEFUL GALLOPS

There was bright sunshine at Kiccarton for the gallops on Tuesday morning, and the plough; which was in main request, was fast, though a head wind in the straight militated against exceptional times.

Shatter seemed quite all right ngain when he ran six furlongs with Taragona and Moorbird, but the last-named seemed somewhat cramped. They completed the task in Imin 18 l-ssec. .•••.-■

Winsome Hind, in a similar mission, ran the first three in 37 3-ssec, but then felt the breeze, and the six took Imin 17sec. It was, however, the best of the morning bcfoic breakfast.

Ball Dress and Sailor/s Love were companions for six furlongs in Imin 17 2-ssec.

Minerva] and Elude covered seven furlongs in Imin 30 2-ssec. Red Heckle accompanied them for the. first'half-mile.

Gay Cvest and Royal Love: were sent a mile and a quarter on the outside of the course proper. They completed the journey, in 2min llsec, the last mile being done in Imin 45aec.

Grecian Prince went six furlongs in Imin 18sec, the first three in. 37 2-ssec.

Great Star did a very easy round, and Grand Review .went steadily over a similar task.

Going tie reverse way, Nightmarch. did two eae,y rounds' Varied each time by a fairly' strong half-mile. Six furlongs were run by Desert Song and Adelphi in lmm 18 l-ssec. v ' Pixie Gold's six furlongs in Imin 17 l-ssec was eclipsed' by his stable-mate, Don Jose, who rattled over a similar journey in Imin 15 4-ssec.
