HARBOUR BOARD EMPLOYEES

About .900 people, comprising employee of the "Wellington Harbour Board an their families and friends, enjoyed yeste. day's brilliant sunshine amid the pictui esque surroundings of Trentham Eac< course: It -was the board's annual sta] picnic, and the entertainment of thos who attended was well provided for by varied sports programme and numerou other diversions. There were coconu shies and Aunt Sallys, and the childrei derived much fun from watching a Punc] and Judy show operated by Sir. C. li Lansdowne, who also performed som clever acrobatics. The Port Nicholsoi Silver Band further enlivened proceeding by playing numerous selections. Befor the picnickers left to come home prize were presented to the successful competi tors in the sports and other events by thi general manager and chief engineer, Mr J; Marchbanks. The following were the officials for tin day:— Chairman of picnic committee, Mr. E. Alex ander; chairman of entertainment committee Captain McLeod; secretary and controller o sports, Mr. N. A.
