HERE AND THERE
A "Gift Evening.'' Mrs. Armstrong gay« a very pleasant "gift evening" fecently at her residence, Waipapa.road, in honour of her niece, Miss Violet Jones. Items were I given by Missas Windsor, E. and V. Jones, and littlo Peggy Meier, the accompaniments bteing played by Mr. L. Muir. Competitions were won by Mesdames Meier and- Faxrant, .Misses Windsor and Warwick, ana Messrs. C. Cooper, Chamber/ ana SpiUer. A very enjoyable evening -was Bpent ty aIL Lecture by the Sen. ,
The large drawin.g-TOom at Kawateri House, Paraparaumn,', -was recently nsed as a lecture-room wi)L«n a, large number of visitors were present to hear Mr. A. L. Hunt speak about the Antarctic ana tho great explorers, Scott, Mawson, and Byrd. Mr. E. P. Aldekson presided, and thanked tho lecturer for an interesting talk. Among those present were about twenty Girl • Guides, members of the Wadestown Company, friio are camped nearby.
