PEASANT MOB'S OUTBREAK

Four Civil Guards were making an effort to quieten <'Eed Flag" demonstrators when a corporal was struck on the.head with a stone. He was then stabbed in the neck.

The guards fired in self-defence, killing one rioter. The mob then wolfishly attacked ana lynched the guards, battering their heads and faces to a jelly, and filling their bodies with bullets and knife wounds.

Women joined in a mad dance about the bodies, which were left lying in the streets. Forty arrests were made, including five women.
