BRABIN'S COLTS

DEFEATED BY ASHBURTON

ASHBURTON, 31st December. A match between L. J. Brabin's team of Wellington colts and Ashbiirton County representatives was concluded on Thursday, and resulted in a win for Ashburton by 18 runs. Ashburton, which had lost eight wickets for 108 runs in the second innings at the end of tbe first day's play, continued at the crease on Thursday. The innings closed for 155 runs. Requiring 159 runs to win, Wellington batted again, but all were out with a score of 141. The best strike of the innings was made by McLean, one of the opening batsmen, who batted soundly for 60 runs.
