BRONZE EAGLE WINS THE DERBY

ANOTHER CUP TO ARROW LAD

Fine weather ruled for the New Year's Day racing. At Ellerslie Bronze Eagle won the Great Northern Derby from Peter Jackson. Gompris was 'successful in the chief handicap, and Karapoli beat ihe sprinters. Arrow Lad.came home, ahead of Spearful in the Wairarapa Cup, and the principal short race fell to. Royal Routine. The Stratford Cup was won by King's Archer and the sprint by Tradesman. At Marton Esteem annexed the Cup and in the Railway Handicap Leisure got home by a head. The chief handicap at the Hawkes Bay Jockey Club's meeting was won by Cluny and the ■Wyndham Cup went to King Balboa. On the final day of the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting Royal Silk was again a winner, and Kewpie's Triumph won a double. The principal event at the Canterbury Park fixture wais Avon by Dilworth.
