Adjutant do Frayssinet, a 28-year-old pilot, has been awarded the Legion of Honour under exceptional circumstances. - De Frayssinet, accompanied by a. passenger, was flying over Valence when his machine burst into flames The pilot signalled the passenger to jump and prepared to follow when ha noticed that the passenger's parachute was entangled in the fuselage. Despite the flames, de Frayssinet climbed back and levelled the aeroplane, enabling it to maintain sufficient height for the passenger to descend uninjured Meanwhile de Frayssinet, fearing that an ordinary landing would cause a rush of air and envelop him in flames, deliberately crashed against a tree. The passenger rushed to the rescue, aid they fell into each other's arms. The pilot partly owes his lifi to a non-inflammable suit.
