_■ '; BERLIN, 31st December. President : Hindenburg>. speaking into a microphone on Ms desk at the palace, broadcast a message throughout Germany, .which was rebroadcast in English through America and Britain.-
'He said the sineerest gratitude and the highest acknowledgment were due to the Germans for their readiness to sacrifice and for patience with, which they had borne their privations and burdens, tho greatness of which justified the demand that foreigners should not obstruct Germany's recovery by asking impossible things. ■ •/. ■:■.■■ -;■■ - , • Begarding - disarmament,, the Germans' claim to equal security was indisputable. ; He implored the Germans to show the same energy as that which won Tannenberg. "Let us march hand in; hand: into the future,. holding high and unshakeable belief, in the: Fatherland," he said. "God more than once saved Germany when we were in' the deepest distress.
