MIDNIGHT PROWLER
FEWER ACTIVITIES
The activities of a mysterious man who during the past two years has earned himself notoriety at Paraparaumu through killing animals, destroying plants, and sending threatening letters, have decreased considerably since the establishment of a police station at Paekakariki, according to a statement by Superintendent Emerson to-day. Although a strict watch has been kept by the police the man has not yet been caught red-handed. In spite of their efforts, property destruction and the killing of animals continues at intervals. The last offence was committed about six weeks ago when the man killed a pig, and shortly before that he killed plants in a hot house with a, poisonous spray. Although the man has caused considerable worry to residents of the district, they are all fairly certain of his identity, but lack evidence to bring definite charges.
