ELECTORAL OFFICERS' PAY
In the appointment of officials for the General Election, the Electoral Department is leaving nothing to chance regarding the appointees' payment of the unemployment levy. Besides the usual declaration, the receipt for the payment of the levy must be produced to the returning officer. The fee has been reduced from £2 10s, which was paid for many years to Deputy-Return-ing Officers, to &2, and carries the wages tax of 3d in the £1. Tho poll clerks aro subjoct to tho same alterations.
