MR. LYSNAR'S STAND
INDEPENDENT COALITION
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
GISBORNE, This Day
Mr. W. D. Lysnar, Independent Coalition candidate for the Gisborne seat, opened his campaign last evening, and for a considerable portion of the proceedings had a rowdy meeting, being continually heckled.
He reasserted his independence, refusing to be tied to any party. He said the Coalition tag was offered to him by Mr. Forbes, but lie turned it down, and was assured by Mr. Forbes that he would not give the tag to anyone else but him. Tho speaker condemned meat trusts and combines in his usual manner, and threw much of the blame on the Reform Government.
At. the conclusion cheers were given by demonstration for Mr. Coleman, the Labour candidate, and the Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland.
Tho meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and confidence to Mr. Lysnar.
