PROBABLE END
ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE
PROVINCIAL i\ AUTONOMY
(Received 21st Now ember. 9 a.m.)
LONDON, 5 JOth November
A final plenary sessa on of the Indian Round Table Conference will be held on 27th November, enabling the delegales, including Mr. I3andhi, to return home by 4th Decemli or. This now is the only prospect to< 3fore the Indian Conference. The who] c upshot is likely to be provincial autonomy; then later a general conference : after the Provincial Legislatures have> settled down and appointed delegates. * There is a general disbelief in the possl bility of settling the communal question'ns.
An Australian Pra ss representative reliably understandi; that General Srauts's appearance oa the scene is not in the role of arbitra itor of Hidu-Ma-hommedan difficulties, but rather to help Mr. MacDonalcL in his dilemma with Mr. Gandhi on ;;tho one hand and with tho Conservatfcy es on the other. Mr. Gandhi spent thrve hours on. Tuesday discussing the jm istponement with Mr. Lloyd George.
