CITY WORKS
It is suggested by "And Humbug" that the City Council should seek" the help of the Minister in Charge of Unemployment to complete half-finished road improvements. "In Brooklyn there is the muehneedeil footpath to be carried up the Brooklyn road; also, accepting the recent oiler of Jiind in Upper Tancra crescent and widening the road and completing the footpath for- which a loan has already been sanctioned some six or eight years ago. Then there is the realignment of iU'Kinley crescent at the lower end. All these arc access improvements. In Wadestoivn there is an urgent .need to widen the tramway cutting for general traffic and link up the western part of Wadestown with Northland and with Ngaio. With all these works in hand, Wellington will have no need to send its unemployed out of the city. The men will be able to stay home and look after the welfare of their wives and families." P. Paynter complains of the state of Todman street, Brooklyn. With motors tearing along its loose gravel surface, the houses are smothered in dust. Todman street should be tar-sealed at leost as far as Charlotte avenue.
