BIBLE IN SCHOOLS

The following resolution was unanimously passed yesterday by the Methodist Wellington District Synod in regard to the Bible-ia-schools question:—"ln view of the election of representatives to Parliament, appeal is made to all citizens to realise the supremo importance of moral and spiritual issues, and in recording.their votes on election day to consider the highest well-being of the children in relation to religious education iv primary schools." .

Strong protests were raised against art unions. The following resolution was carried: —"Being persuaded that in this time of acute economic stress, together with the serious problem of unemployment, this method of gambling should be discontinued, we call upon all our people to set themselves against this pernicious method of money-raising by abstaining from personally indulging in it and seeking to persuade all others to do tlie same." Regarding disarmament, the following .motion was adopted:—''This Synod is fully alive to the need of the question of universal disarmament occupying a leading position in the thought of our people belonging to Methodism in New Zealand, and strongly recommends the Church to exercise collective influence in every possible direction, in order to secure by intcrnalioiiul agreement a progressive allround reduction and limitation in sea, land, and air armament."
