PRIZES AND PERSONS

(Beceived 19th November, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 18th November. All the drawers of horses, not necessarily starters, are certain of a prize of £660. The draw of 1064 names of horse-holders took nearly seven hours, and the lists almost exclusively monopolised the tape-machines in newspaper offices and clubs. The papers sold like hot cakes. The drawing of £.1900 consolation prizes takes place on Thursday and Friday. Lord Wateran, at present a motor salesman in Piccadilly, holds a ticket oil Advancer. Mrs. Bichmond, holder of Omega, is the mother of Colonel Eichmond, designer of 8101, who died in the disaster. She is eighty years old. Mrs. Emily Pedler, the holder of Eedeswood, says that she always wanted to visit relatives in Adelaide and West Australia, and if she gets a big prize she will spend half her win- j nings on the trip. Mrs. Hard, of Manchester, the holder of a half-ticket on Tin o' Mint, in-j tends to go to New Zealand to see her husband's sister, if she is successful. Tom Proctor, of Hunslet, attributes his drawing of Lord Bill to his incessant prayers. By a happy coincidence J. Dayman, a young bluejacket, drew British Sailor, while a London syndicate, "Taxation," has drawn tickets on both Argonaute and Bower of Eoses. No Australian drew Strephon 11., but tickets for him are scattered over Britain, Canada, America, South Africa, and India. Australian and New Zealand drawers include: — Sir Joshua, "Pure Boys," Burkes Agency, Melbourne. Sansolena, Hillanan, Eeid and Guerin, care of Hallinan, Cloncurry, Queensland, and D. Burtt, Norseman avenue, Cottonville, South Australia. Mr. Bertram, A. A. Markwcll, Chesser street, Adelaide. Promptitude, C. Kerr, 117, Central avenue, Inglewood, Western Australia. Notice Board, E. E. Mathieson, steamer Waimea, care of Union Company, Auckland. Six Wheeler, Mrs. A. M. Inwood, 122, Shirley road, Christchurch.
