THE WEEK'S WORK
FLOWEK GARDEN.
During a dry spell every opportunity should be taken to destroy weeds. The hoe run through amongst the plants will not only kill all seedling weeds, but also help to keep the soil moist. Planting, of seedling annuals may be continued even in dry weather if the plants are paddled in. Dahlias should be planted, at intervals. The later planted ones will probably give better results, as. they will bloom later when -the hottest of the weather is- over. ■ ' • -; ■ ■ Continue to plant chrysanthemums. If these are puddled in they will suffer very little check from- the move.. Plant out asters, zinnias, and salvias, also phlox.. drammondi, schLzanthus, petunias^.verbenas, dianthus, and French and African marigolds. Sow in the open ground clarkia, godetia, niigntfnette, dwarf nasturtiums, etc. Thin put seedlings in the early stages, first giving the "beds a good watering.
