VEGETABLE GARDEN.
Bhubarb will benefit if it receives a good mulching of manure and a bucket of water now and again. Sow for succession at fortnightly intervals the various salad plants. The ground for these should be rich and be kept moist, as rapid growth is essential to produce tender plants. Make -regular sowings of peas and dwarf beans for succession. Earth up as the plants attain 3 or 4 inches of growth. . Spray and earth up potatoes. Peas benefit if earthed up before being staked. A little superphosphate sprinkled along the rows prior to earthing will be beneficial. Plant out tomato plants in warm sunny positions. The plants should be well hardened before planting. Thinning and "weeding seedling crops should be attended to, and the soil be* tween the rows be frequently hoed. .' Delay watering until absolutely necessary. Keeping the surface soil loose will do as much good as watering.
