SHOTS ACROSS RIVER

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, ISth November. A mysterious shooting affair occurred at the ■ Grey.mouth South breakwater at 8 o 'clock to-night, when Mrs. Daniel M'Carthy, while walking with her husband, was hit on a leg with a .22 bullet fired from the opposite side of the river. Half a dozen shots in all were fired, and they drove people to seek safety. Mrs. M'Carthy's injury is not expected to *ie very serious, but the full effect will'not be known .till, an X-ray examination is made to-morrow. A police search failed to discover who fired the shots.
