CAMPAIGN IN HUTT
MR. KERR AT PETONE
Hopes of an early improvement in general economic conditions, with a brighter outlook for the. unemployed, were expressed by Mr. 'James Kerr, Coalition candidate for tie Hutt ■ seat, when speaking at Petone last evening. The unemployed themselves' had faced their adversity with determination and courage, Mr. Kerr said, >nd in trying to mako ends meet the iwives of tho unemployed were carrying the heaviest burden. It was the desire, he. felt sure, of members of all political, parties that timo would soon arrive-when all the men would bo back again in permanent occupations. ' ' Yesterday afternoon a mooting of ladies-of Petone was held at the residence of Mrs. Kerr, Hutt road. Mrs. AJtchesou, J.P.,' presided. Mrs. Kerr welcomed tlo visitors, and thanked them for the support they had given to Mr. Kerr in'the past, and their promise of practiejal support i» tho present campaign. Mr. Kerr .addressed tlose present on *ho'ibues of tho election! At the conclusion of Mb address tho women formed themselves into strong committees. Mr. James Kerr, Coalition candidate for Hutt, met his friends and supporters at Lower Hutt Ust evening, Mr,. A. M'Bain occupying the chair. Speeches wore delivered by the chairman, Mr. W. T. Strand and the candidate. A strong general committee and a ladies' committee were formed.
