DAIRY BOARD APPEAL
In a" statement sent, out by the New Zealand Dairy Board for general information ill the United Kingdom it is explained that there is "absolutely no con-trol-exercised by thn New Zealand Dairy Produce Board in this country. Supplies are placed on the open market as they come to hand. It is common knowledge that during the last eighteen months there has been a very big fall in' the price of butter as a whole, owing to the rapid expansion in the Empire dairying industry, ,and a further substantial increase in the supplies from Dominion sources should counteract the effect of any contraction in the quantities sent from' foreign countries.
"If, as a result of the present economic situation, the Empire commands a larger share of the butter and cheese trade, it should prove of the utmost benefit to British manufacturers, since the buying capacity of the Dominions will be increased. New1 Zealand' is' already the largest buyer per capita of British goods, and last year her purchases per head amounted to £12' Is 2d, as compared with £1 12s lid per head by Sweden, £2 18a 3d per head by Denmark, £4 11s 8d per head by Norway; £2 7s lOd per head by the Netherlands, and only lOd per head by the Soviet Unjon—to mention only a few countries which export 'vast quantities of dairy produce to Great Britain."
