Lieutenant-Commander J. D. Prentice, who was first lieutenant of H.M.S. Philomel, stationed at Auckland, is" leaving Wellington by the Maknra to-day for Sydney, en. route for England, where he.will re-join, the Eoyal Navy.

-Mr. J. S. Campbell, the London manager of the Bank of New- South Wales, is'-at present paying a business visit to Japan,' having travelled thither via Canada. Mr. Campbell is expected at the head office of ,the Bank of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, early in January next, and probably will come to New Zealand. Mr. Campbell, who is p. native . of. Invercargill, was transferred to the liondon office as secretary in 1912, and has been manager for the past nine years
The death occurred yesterday, at his residence, Orakci road, Eemuera, of Mr. W. "Wallace Bruce, a well-known, public accountant, reports the "Evening Post's" Auckland representative. After his arrival in the Dominion thirty years ago Mr. Bruce established a sound, reputation in Auckland as a commercial advisor with a wide knowledge of business principles, and in the course of a successful career ho took a leading part in the social and recrcationa.l life..of the city. A son of the late Bcv. David Bruce, of England, Mr. Briiee, on. his arrival in New Zealand, joined, the firm of Messrs. Sargood, Son, and. Ewen, Ltd.- In 1905 he entered business .as a public accountant, and was elected president of-the New Zealand Incorporated Institute of Accountants in 1910, and held the position until ,1912, His is survived by Mrs. Bruce and two children. A brother, Mr. ,Allaii;Bruce, resides in Wellington. Another brother was the lato Mr. Graham Bruce, who founded King's- College. ■ ,
