COURT IN A HOME
FORMALITY RETAINED
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post")
AUCKLAND, This Day.
The inability of an important witness to attend a case heard before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, caused the sitting to be resumed in the front room of a Bayswater bungalow in the afternoon. The ordinary Court procedure was strictly observed, although the officials were grouped round the billiard table. The most remarkable occurrence was when a detective, who was acting aa Court orderly at the sitting, left the room, stood in the passage, and announced that the Magistrate's Court was now open.
The accused remained standing in a theoretical dock throughout the case, and •the prosecutor and counsel conducted their questionings and cross-examination with the utmost formality.
