V.M.C.A. AFFAIRS

LADIES* AUXILIARY

There. was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the V.M.C.A. Ladies' Auxiliary, Mrs. E. P. Hay (president) being in the chair. The report and balance-sheet, * covering the activities of the auxiliary for the past twelve months, were read by Miss Falconer and Mrs. Staples, secretary and treasurer respectively, and were adopted. Among the visitors present were Mr. Grocott (president of the V.M.C.A.), Mr. Falconer (a member of the.board), and Mr. Greenborg (general secretary). Mr. Grocott expressed the thanks of the association for the great assistance rendered by the Ladies' Auxiliary during the year. Visitors were also present from the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Boys' Division Work, and were welcomed by tho president. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mrs. C. S. Falconer; vice-pre-sidents, Mrs. E. P. Hay, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs. Schrader; secretary, Mrs. Staples; treasurer, Mrs. Hannah; reporter, Miss Lythberg; executive, Mrs. Fosette, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. D. M'Kenzie, Mrs. Greenberg, and Mrs. Harry. Mrs. Greenberg, in presenting a bouquet to Mrs. Hay on the termination of her holding the office of president, stated that the rule of tho executive that officers had to compulsorily retire niter two years' service prevented Mrs. Hay from being re-elected to the position, although tho members considered that her services had been so valuable during a difficult year that they felt inclined to ask for the rule to bo released on this occasion. Mrs. Hay, however, was still keen on the work of the auxiliary, and had agreed to accept the office of vice-president. On Mrs. Greenberg's motion votes of thanks were passed to all retiring officers for their work. Bouquets were also presented to Mrs. Falconer (retiring secretary) and Mrs. Staples (retiring treasurer). Some beautiful roses were sent to Mrs. Balph, the oldest member, who was unable to be present. A great deal of business was transacted, including tho arranging of a big conversazione, in conjunction with the Board of Management and of all departments of the association, to be held early in December. Afternoon tea was served.
